Taking Care Of Your Mattress- Essential Tips

22nd September , 2020

A mattress is one of the most important investments you can make to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. It is essential that you take care of it very well so that it can last for a long time and provide a relaxing sleep every night.

Although there are different care instructions for each kind of mattress, you can still take common measures to ensure it remains durable. It is always a challenge to find the best mattress that fits your standards; therefore, you should make sure that you can enjoy the comfort of your mattress for a long time by taking care of it.

Rotate It Often

It is recommended that mattresses should be turned over often. If the mattress is not rotated at regular intervals, a dip can form in the mattress from sleeping in the same position. The mattress should be rotated weekly for the first three months and then every three to four months to ensure it remains even for an extended period of time that reduces any chance of lumps forming.

Maintain The Shape & Structural Support

Sometimes you might have a favorite spot on the bed that you always like to sit on, and sitting repeatedly in the same place can have an impact on the shape of the mattress. In this case, an orthopedic mattress, in particular,  loses its purpose if it forms too many lumps and will be unable to provide even support to your body as it is meant to.

If you live in a house full of children, then jumping on the bed is inevitable. And this can damage the fibers and coils of your mattress. Experts advise against it as this can potentially destroy the springs in the mattress as well if it has any.

Use A Protective Cover

There are protective covers created for mattresses that you can use to secure it from any stains and other surface damage. It also provides room for extra padding and volume on the bed, which can be an added source of comfort for you. The protective cover also keeps the bed secure from any bugs, mites, and even allergens. In addition, a protective cover is easy to maintain as it can be washed easily.

Cleanliness Is The Key

While cleaning your house is an essential part of your daily routine, it is recommended to have your mattresses cleaned periodically as well to maintain good hygiene. Vacuuming your mattress regularly can help remove allergens settled on its surface. It also prevents it from becoming too dusty and contributes towards a better quality of sleep.

A severe stain or surface-level stain will need professional cleaning and stronger chemicals to yield the desired results. The mattress must be dried properly before you cover it up, otherwise, the moisture can cause mold to grow within your mattress. Furthermore, professional deep cleaning for your mattress is recommended every couple of months in order to achieve optimal results and prevent the mattress from accumulating a lot of debris.
